What GlowUp processes
GlowUp sends content off your device only when you choose to use an AI feature after granting permission:
- Photo analysis sends the portrait you selected.
- AI Coach sends your question and up to six recent conversation messages, including previous AI plan proposals. When you explicitly select an experiment, it also sends that plan’s objective, actions, success criterion, progress, last seven recorded observations, and final decision and reflection if recorded. When selfie analysis is available, Coach also receives its approximate glow score and priorities. Experiment photos are not included in Coach chat.
This content is transmitted over encrypted connections through AIProxy and OpenRouter to the selected AI model provider to return the result you requested. GlowUp currently selects an OpenAI model through OpenRouter. GlowUp requests providers that deny non-transient data collection.
AIProxy may process and log technical information needed to secure and operate the proxy, including the originating IP address, response status, request metadata such as token or file sizes, and response bodies for unsuccessful requests. OpenRouter and the selected model provider may process technical request metadata such as model, token usage, and timestamps for security, abuse prevention, reliability, usage limits, and billing. Their handling of this information is governed by their linked privacy policies.
We do not sell AI inputs, use them for advertising, use them to track you across apps or websites, or use them for facial recognition or identity matching. We do not use face photos or face-derived information for affiliate targeting.
Data stored on your device
GlowUp stores the following information locally on your device:
- Up to 20 recent analysis results, their timestamps, and one-way photo fingerprints used to return an existing result when the same image is scanned again. Raw photos are not included in this analysis cache.
- Your selected scan photo and coach conversation while GlowUp remains in memory.
- Routines, daily check-ins, streaks, experiment plans, actions, ratings, notes and reflections, marketplace and owned-category preferences, and experiment baseline or checkpoint photos you choose to save.
- A limited widget summary, including streak and daily completion data, shared locally with the GlowUp widget extension.
Starting an experiment may save the currently selected scan photo as a local baseline after the app tells you this will happen.
Subscriptions
Purchases and subscription billing are processed by Apple through the App Store. GlowUp receives product and entitlement status so it can unlock GlowUp Pro, but does not receive your payment card or other payment-method details.
Product recommendations
Amazon affiliate links are disabled in the current release. Product-category suggestions are retailer-neutral and based on the routine, experiment, or request you selected, not face-derived scores.
Your choices and deletion
GlowUp asks for permission before the first AI request. You can decline without losing access to non-AI features, withdraw permission later, or stop using an AI feature at any time. Privacy & Data inside the app includes a Delete all local GlowUp data action. This clears the analysis cache, experiment photos, widget summary, routines, check-ins, preferences, current scan, coach messages, and AI permission from the device. Uninstalling the app also removes locally stored app data.
Selecting no plan excludes saved notebook context from new requests; recent conversation context is still included. Withdrawing AI permission stops future AI requests but does not erase requests already processed by service providers.
Deleting local data or uninstalling GlowUp does not cancel an Apple subscription. You can manage or cancel a subscription in your Apple subscription settings.
GlowUp does not maintain user accounts or a server-side profile. AI content is submitted for request processing; any service-provider access, deletion, or retention rights are governed by the configured services and applicable law. Contact us if you need help with a privacy request.
Photos and facial information
GlowUp uses a selected portrait only to generate supportive, approximate appearance coaching requested by the user. It does not create a biometric identifier, identify a person, compare identities, infer ethnicity, or diagnose health conditions. Face photos and derived coaching signals are not used for marketing, advertising, data mining, or tracking.
Children
GlowUp is not intended for children under 13. The AI permission screen asks users to confirm they are at least 13 and have permission to submit the selected content.
Security and changes
We use encrypted transport and limit data access to the services needed to operate requested features. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. We may update this policy as the app or its service providers change and will revise the date above.
